WELTEN CONTROL

April 16th, 2012

When Eddie & Sissy of The Polyamorous Affair met video artist Xhico at a Weltenbuerger N’ Friends pop-up event last summer, the creative juices started flowing right away. Before we knew it, they began collaborating on a video for the song Whoever Controls the Groove. We were happy to outfit the duo in Weltenbuerger vintage, LD Tuttle, C.NEEON, Juliaandben, Mia Morikawa, and more. And now, here it is!

Meet Sissy Saint-Marie

March 15th, 2012

Meet our good friend Sissy Saint-Marie who will be working with us as. She’s got great style and we’re excited for her to join our team. With that said, read ahead and find out more about Sissy. And don’t forget to check out her etsy, Saint-Marie Vintage, and her band, The Polyamorous Affair.

Name: Sissy Sainte-Marie

Website or blog: Etsy.shops/SainteMarieVintage

Name of label, band name, project name: Sainte-Marie Vintage /// Band - The Polyamorous Affair

More about Sissy:

How did you meet Weltenbuerger /// I met Bryan when I returned to Los Angeles after a year in Berlin and was all excited to see a store with a German name carrying  JuliaAndBen, one of my favorite Berlin labels. I also went crazy for their vintage. I participated in some of the WB N Friends pop-up events at the shop.  My husband & I did a little modeling for the store’s website. We all became friends instantly. And since it’s so close to home, I never miss a chance to pop in and say hello.

Where are you currently residing? /// Los Feliz

What is your occupation? /// I own Sainte-Marie Vintage and I write songs and do vocals for The Polyamorous Affair.

Do you have a favorite designer/musician/artist? /// I love all the designers. I love beautiful things and beauty all around. I don’t think I could choose a favorite. I don’t keep up on music too much, I just find a couple of artists I like and listen to them forever and ever. I always love Glass Candy, Fever Ray, The Knife & El Perro del Mar. And I listen to David Lynch’s Crazy Clown Time a lot. My favorite visual artists deal with psycho-sexual matters and/or fabric: Louise Bourgeois, Tracey Emin, Yayoi Kusama - and I also love Nick Cave’s soundsuits and Cindy Sherman’s obsessive self portraiture.

What are you wearing in your photos? ///  I sent 5 photos of my current favorite outfits.

1 - Black silk harem pants & jacket set, gold bodysuit, leopard boots, copper cuffs are all vintage + gold Gucci belt & blue tassel earring from UO $5 sale.

2 - White vintage bib dress & LD Tuttle horsehair heels, both from Weltenbuerger, snakeskin bag w/ head attached from Etsy & vintage mixed metal necklace.

3 - Moonspoon Saloon jumpsuit, Vena Cava Wedges & vintage yellow wooden earrings.

4 - Vintage angel print dress, American Apparel striped swimsuit & Loeffler Randall x Suno platform wedges.

5 - Bib overalls, YSL sunglasses & silk Christian Dior shirt are all vintage, Vena Cava pumps w/ lucite heel & my favorite toy - my snakeskin Holga.

If you were not in the fashion industry, what would you see yourself doing? I would study parapsychology and try to talk to ghosts & read minds.

Would you say your current location has an impact on your personal taste/style and how ?

LA is extremely casual and I like to dress up. So I’m kinda neurotic about it. I would just be a big fabulous peacock if left to my own devices. So right now my personal style is Minimal/Whimsical.

Are you working on any projects or collaborations we should check out? Yes, check out my online vintage shop.  Come to my booth at the next A Current Affair. Check out some of my collaborations with my husband Eddie Chacon’s photography project, Metropolis of Vice.  And our band, The Polyamorous Affair, has been collaborating with Bobb Bruno of Best Coast for our upcoming album. We will have some new videos and singles coming out soon.

Artist and Designer: Katharina Trudinski

February 27th, 2012

Katharina Trudinski, a founder and designer for one of Weltenbuerger’s successful German lines, Hui Hui is not only an outstanding fashion designer, but is also an amazing artist. As a trained textile designer, she has used her skills to create pieces she refers to as paintings. Trudinski’s love of color and texture is visible not only in her paintings but in her clothing line Hui Hui. She works by using Photoshop to collage paintings and drawings into an abstract print and digitally prints them onto fabric, for example this painting that she used to print a scarf:
